Discovering the Hidden Treasures of Badian Cebu

Image
If you've ever traveled to Cebu and are familiar with the municipality of Badian, then the first thing you would associate it with is Kawasan Falls. I've been to family trips over there and the go-to place has always been the famous tourist spot. Recently, it has also become known for Canyoneering adventures! My recent trip there though made me discover the hidden treasures of Badian and it is definitely more than just the Kawasan waterfalls! Just this weekend, we went to Badian for our first out-of-town trip for 2017. We (me, my husband, our 5-year-old son Izel) along with my husband's cousin who is from Badian rode a bus to Badian for a much-needed and totally worth it get-away!  And if you're ever planning on a weekend get-away soon, consider this your Badian itinerary with pictures and tips! Destination: Badian, Cebu, Philippines Bus fare: 130 - 170 range is for Ceres non-aircon and aircon buses  Where to go: If you'd like to see more o...

Of superstar dreams and making them come true!

Image
Did you ever have one of those childhood dreams of becoming a celebrity and getting famous?  I had my moments back then! There were times when I would clean up dishes after eating and pretend like I'm on TV in my own cooking show! I would be like "ok, so ilalagay na natin yung ibang dry ingredients at ihahalo..." Or I would be in my room, look at the mirror and pretend I was in my own MTV! (I know... creepy right! haha..) Yes it was creepy back then to be talking to the mirror pretending it was a camera but it isn't now - with the cellphone cameras, Youtube channels, Facebook live and all other DIY video-creation apps, it's so easy to make childhood dreams come true and become an overnight celebrity! Cue in Mikey Bustos, Charice Pempengco, Yaya Dub and Carrot Man! There are more ofcourse!  I think I still have that little child in me though and for a few moments, I've had my 15 minutes of fame - I got featured in a full-page ad in the new...

Give a CARD today!

Image
Image Credit: www.regaloservicenotes.com   Sometime a few weeks ago, I had this idea of wanting to start something that would make a ripple effect and touch as many lives as possible (well, at least in our office, that is!) and I created what I call Circulation Cards.   It borrows the concept of "paying it forward" but in a more tangible form and in very simple ways.  I've always wanted to make a difference in people's lives and I realize, you don't even have to spend money or be grandiose with your ways - even a simple act of kindness could make a difference! With the help of the ever-reliable Canva online, I created 5 different cards that contained 5 different actions that would have to be performed by the initial recipient of the card, afterward, the card will then be given to the other person to perform and so on. To make it attractive and catchy and for it to last longer, we had it printed in color and laminated.  It'...

I am not Maine Mendoza! (I wish...)

Image
I am not Maine Mendoza! (I wish but the reality is, I am not!) There are so many reasons why a lot of girls today between ages 1 to 99 would want to be Maine Mendoza, number 1 reason obviously is because she gets to see Alden's dimples on an almost daily basis, ogle at them and don't end up looking desperate but instead adorably cute and so worth the 25.6 million tweets worldwide!  Second reason probably would be from being a girl creating Dubsmash videos, she became an online sensation and now is a household name (and I mean that both literally and figuratively of course.) Third would probably be her growing list of endorsements for big names such as McDonald's, Talk n Text, O+, etc and the list could go on.    There are countless reasons why anyone would want to be Maine Mendoza right now; fame, fortune, love life, glory, etc, however none of those equate to my reason as mine is totally simple. I'd want to be Maine Mendoza because I ad...

The six letter C word!

Let's talk about the dreaded big C - Cancer! We've all at some point in our lives known people who've had cancer - some unfortunately we've lost as well - family, relatives, friends and even acquaintances and it never is an easy topic to talk about. It is by far the scariest type of illness right now because it can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime! And because it attacks the very basic component of the human body - the cells - there's virtually no way to avoid it. You could try and live a healthy lifestyle to avoid it or go all-out Angelina Jolie and remove certain organs to reduce your risk but if you're genetically-predisposed to have it, your risk is ever present. And organ removal, although a possible way to go about it, is costly and is not applicable to all types of cancers such as blood cancers or leukemia. I've lost a cousin due to Leukemia and now have a nephew who was just recently diagnosed with the ALL type - just a 3 y...
