AN ESCAPE: LANIPAO RAINFOREST RESORT

Lanipao Rainforest Resort: An Escape from the Hussle of the City within the City

If you want to have an escape but don't want to escape that far, Lanipao Rainforest Resort is one of your best bets.

Away from all the noise, close to nature, with a great view and via a route full of surprising adventures --- you'll never regret going to this place and spending some quality time with loved ones.

We did and here are pictures of this hidden get-away:

(Note: These are random pictures taken using a BB phone without a memory card so I just did a few point and shoot ones. It should give you an idea how the whole place looks like but I recommend you see it for yourself and take your best pictures as well.)

Address:
Brgy Sapangdaku, Guadalupe, 6000 Cebu City

Rates:
Entrance per person - 50 pesos
Cottage fee - 250 pesos

Just a few tips before going there:

1. Get a reliable vehicle because you will have to go through some rough roads and even have to literally cross a river. (aka: sapa) If you feel more adventurous and have all the energy for it, you can go there on foot but ofcourse it can be a long walk if you have a lot of stuff in tow.

2. Bring your own food because apparently there is a store nearby but I didn't see one so to save yourself the trouble and the hunger - do come here fully-packed with food and beverages.

3. The water in the pools is cold spring water (or "tubod") and is really cold so wearing "little" swimsuits might be a problem if you get cold easily.

4. Because there are a lot of trees and plants around, there are some mosquitoes as well so definitely bring your mosquito-repellent lotions and creams.

5. Be sure to bring your camera with you as it would be sad to miss all the great "FB" profile pictures you can take.

6. You can skip bringing "sili" with you because there are plenty in the area and around cottages.

7. There is no cellphone network signal in the area so if you need to text or call anyone, do that before reaching the place.

8. Keep an eye out for new developments because under construction is the Event Rooms, the playground for kids and the in-the-planning-phase "zip line". Also outside the resort is a 300+ set of uphill steps that you can take if you feel like sweating it out.

Enjoy and hope to see you there because I will be sure to come back soon!!

  1. SO DISAPPOINTING.. :(
    The Pictures are quite "DECEIVING"
I and my family went there last Sunday when I read this blog yet to our dismay.. super bati kaau!
The cottages were very small, the bamboo seats were damaged and the tables were so dirty wala man lang mo assist nmo. plus! the swimming pool? mura lang sya ug "PASONG" way binuang
We had to look on our own for a cottage to stay. Hahaayyy...
Ok nlng unta to ang thriller ride on our way there kay naa sad jud sya tumoy sa buntod, ok lang unta if ig abot nmo didto ba makaana ka na "it's all worth it!" pro shucks! ma dismaya lang ka..
We had to pack up again and look for another resort.

    1. Hi, I am so sorry you had the opposite experience and was not satisfied with your trip to Lanipao Rainforest Resort. I normally don't have a high expectation for places that charge only 50 pesos per person and I am used to DIY areas, so for me, the resort was very ok. If I like the place, the little things don't bother me as much anyway.
As for the pictures being deceiving, it was a mirror of how I saw the place and because I thought the place was nice, it manifested in the pictures. (I like to think it was a result of great photography. ;-) hehe..)
Thanks for reading my blog though and commenting, at least you've shown another perspective to the place and the article. I really hope you had a better experience when you went and looked for another resort.

  2. I'll rate the place 4/5. Ok ra didto, sakto ra sa amu budget. Just keep in mind that you will cross a 4-5inch water level sa river. Ok ra mag habal habal kai katultol ra sila asa pero mas maayu mag auto/taxi gyud basta ma-negotiate lang ninyu ang driver.

  4. Hi, there are multiple pools nga connected ra and naay pang bata ug naa pud pang dagku... not sure sa depth jud ang isa ka pool kay more than 5ft. Mas lawm pud tong pool nga naay slide I think. So far, limpyo raman didto and there is plenty of water to use if ever you need to clean your table or area pud. Last time we went there kay under construction to ang mga rooms so siguro by now, available nato para you can spend some private time pud. Just to be on the safe side, check the place out lang sa before planning something big para kabaw ka unsaun pag maximize sa place but kung inato lang nga occasion, the place is pretty ok jud. Hope it all turns out well for you and your special someone. ;-)

  6. i heard about this place from a friend. how wide ang sapa that we need to cross should we visit. naa man gud ko 1 yr old na bata. thanks

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's not that large actually and not too deep so you can carry your 1-year old on your back or on your front and it would be ok as long as you're not afraid to get wet. Just be careful you don't slip kay ang bato basta sapa tends to get slippery man gud. Hope you get to visit the place. Might be best to have an advance party before you go so you can assess the place better. Anad man gud ko ug bukid and sapa so it wasn't much of a big deal when we went there. ;-)

    1. Hi, I believe the water is clean kay running water man cxa di man cxa stagnant which is a good thing, I think. When we were there though, I didn't see anyone clean the water because it was full of people man but so far clean raman.
Normally, my little boy gets sick after he swims in swimming pools but when we were there, ok raman cxa so I guess that means clean ra ang water didto.
I haven't been there in a while na though and I think daghan na ug improvements sa place so I would assume they've also leveled up the maintenance aspect.
Thanks for reading my post and leaving a comment! :-)

  10. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, IT TOOK ME 1 YEAR, 1 MONTH AND 6 DAYS TO ACTUALLY GO BACK TO LANIPAO RAINFOREST!!

THIS WAS JUST YESTERDAY AND ALTHOUGH THIS TIME I DIDN'T HAVE THE PICTURES TO PROVE IT BECAUSE IT WAS SPUR OF THE MOMENT TRIP, I DO HAVE UPDATES:

    1. The creek that you need to pass by has now been renovated and is already concretized. You and your car don't need to literally wade through the "sapa" anymore. ;-)

    2. There are now new attractions - birds in cages like owls, a kiddie playground, rooms for overnight use and some new concrete cottages.

    3. Water was still overflowing and as cold as ever. I swear it took me two shots of Red Horse to make me want to swim in the cold water. (Reason being not that I am "kandingun" but because I am a little skinny and have a limited supply of body heat.) ;-)

    4. Their kiddie playground has a swing, a see-saw, a play house with a slide and you can use them for free. You do have to pay P50 to use the trampoline and to ride the go-karts. (I would have to say this is a little to pricey and is evident in the number of accumulated dried leaves on the trampoline and the dirt on the go-karts.Hopefully the owner gets a hint and lowers the prices...)

    5. More people have now discovered the place so it is not so "mingaw" anymore but is not too crowded either. So far, at least not too many people to warm the cold water up, that is.

    6. There still are fresh chillies and buzzing pesky mosquitoes, although not as many as the last time - I am speaking for both the chilies and mosquitoes as well.

    7. Just a little reminder to those with kids, there are areas that are slippery and damp so be extra careful. The resort unfortunately does not have any lifeguards or Emergency Point Persons so it is best to watch out for your safety and especially your children. A little girl from yesterday slipped and hit her head on the concrete floor and was unconscious for a few minutes. She was ok after but not entirely sure from a medical perspective. (A request for the resorts management: please get a lifeguard or an emergency point person because you never know when accidents happen so it is better to be safe and ready.)

    8. I didn't see any nearby stores still so it is best to bring your own baon there; you can pass by so many stores along the way including (if you are lucky enough just like we were yesterday) a group of mango harvesters loading freshly-picked green mangoes into and you can buy from them at cheaper prices. They allow you to buy the reject but that only means a little bump or discoloration on the mango but definitely still perfect mangoes from Guadalupe!

    9. Bring your cameras and phones (but do make sure they are fully-charged) so you can take great pictures in your itsy bitsy swimsuit or capture your moment with the slide before splashing into the cold water.

For those who have read this blog and have always wanted to go there, what are you still waiting for? Another year??? Don't let every one else share their adventures, be one to share your own too!!

Toodles and thanks for checking out my blog! :-)

  11. Hello update to any room rates?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi, I don't have the room rates though, sorry, but if I am not mistaken the native cottages are now at 300 (we paid 550 good for 5 adults with 2 kids). Considering their prices, I would peg their rooms at P1,500 a night or more but just to be sure, you may visit their Facebook page and possibly make a reservation while you're at it because the place is already getting a lot of attention these days... ;-) Thanks for visiting and for leaving your comment! :-)
