Reviews: Himalaya Herbals Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash & Maybelline Electro Pop Lip Balm
I rarely create cosmetic product reviews (wait, lemme correct that, I don’t do cosmetic reviews); reason being I don’t use them!
The closest I ever got to using them on a daily basis was when I worked as a Leasing Specialist for a chain of department stores and even then, I only used it because it was required.
Today though, I am making an
exception, especially because two of the products I’ve recently discovered are
so share-worthy it would be such a shame to withhold the information from the
public. (or at least those who bump in this blog anyway… hehe)
P.S. This is not a paid review, I
wish I had sponsorships because if I did, I’d definitely be living the good
life, huh?
Product # 1:
Himalaya Herbals
Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash
About the Company:
Country of Origin: India
Himalaya Herbals is a range of
natural, effective and safe products that use special herbs carefully selected
from nature. Combining the best of Ayurveda with years of scientific research,
these products effectively restore your skin’s natural health and vitality.
(verbatim from their product packaging)
Good points:
This product
contains no soap and no parabens, those stuff that companies load so many
cosmetic products out there but are technically chemicals and are supposedly
not good for the skin. Try getting a sniff of the product and you’d notice the
lack of chemical smell that others seem to have.
My personal experience:
During
first use, you’d definitely feel that it is not soap-based because it does not
lather so much and does not bubble up like most facial wash do. It feels just
like putting cream on your face but when you spread it around, it gets good
coverage. A few seconds after using it, I felt my face tighten, which ironically
I didn’t expect and was a rarity for me as I’ve not experience tightening with
any of the soap-based products I have so far tried. I checked in the mirror to
see if anything weird was happening to my face and touched it too; it actually
felt soft and no, I wasn’t turning green or red. (thankfully!)
I’ve been using it regularly (day
and night) just because I feel good after doing so and seriously, my face feels
softer and it has indeed cleared up a little. Even without adding the “rosy
cheeks” (aka cheek tint?) product, I see a little pink on my cheeks when I look
closer in the mirror. I just stopped using my cheek tint and will see how it
eventually develops. I also got their Himalayas Gentle Exfoliating Daily Face
Wash that I carry in my bag with me; normally scrubs are not advisable for daily
use otherwise you’d end up scrubbing even the good skin cells but this one
apparently is gentle enough for daily use.
I think I am going to try their
other products too; (they have quite an extensive range of products, they even
have toothpaste too) next payday that is! :-)
The prices aren’t that bad either, they’re even cheaper than the regular brand
I use and without all those chemicals too! I guess it’s probably the chemicals
on those products that actually make them more expensive!? Hmmm…
Product # 2:
Maybelline Electro Pop Lip Balm - Pink Shock
Now this purchase wasn’t planned
but was needed. An officemate (need I say we’re not close?), asked last week if
I had lip balm and because I was honest, I said yes – she used it! (I know
right?) That’s not the end of it though, the next day, she still did! (Ofcourse
this is not a hygienic practice, and I’m not just saying that because I am OC,
I mean hello?..) I have stopped using it the first time she did and therefore
my search for another lip balm started.
Good Points:
Because I am not the lipstick
girl, I just stick to lip balm but now prefer those with a little dash of color
as opposed to the just-ate-lechon looking lip balms. :-) I chose this one because the
price was not too shabby (shabby-priced ones might mean shabby quality as well
so no-no to that) and it wasn’t too expensive either. I’ve always heard good
reviews on Maybelline so I chose that brand and my last lip balm was also of the
same brand and I was fairly satisfied too. I got the Pink Shock variant and the
color is not Nicky Minaj shocking pink, just baby pink so, I love it. It still
looks like lip balm with a little natural-looking color – just the result I
wanted to achieve!
My personal experience:
I have been using it since last
week and I like the result so far, even without it on yet, my lips are softer
(I feel it when I lick it with my tongue) and earlier today when I checked the
mirror, my lips were pink and not dark like what normally happens when you use
lipstick. So far so good, right?

So yeah, go to your nearest
Watsons Shop right now and grab your own Himalaya Herbals Face Wash and
Maybelline Electro Pop Lib Balm, and please stop asking your officemate for
theirs…it’s just not right on so many levels! :-0
